Jan. 23 10:30am-12:30pm Cooking Demo: Learn the art of seasonal cooking with Chef Emily Peterson! Chef Emily recently won the Best Entree in The Vegetarian Times Recipe Contest! She will glean whatever looks freshest at the market and pull from her experience working at the Green Table in Chelsea to create a scrumptious farm fresh dish right before your eyes - sampling is encouraged and she'll even send you off with the recipe!

Jan. 30 10:30am-12:30pm Cooking Contest: Bring your culinary creation- made with the featured farmers market vegetable of the month- to the market for judging! The winner gets a farmers market gift certificate and their recipe will be published on the Community Markets website! Register in advance at the manager's table.

Feb. 6 10:30am-12:30pm Live music at the market! Enjoy Little Triumph, a virtuosic Brooklyn based Jazz trio that specializes in improvisational Americana music with undertones of rock and country. The band consists of Kirk Schoenherr on guitar, Nick Anderson on drums/percussion and Spencer Zahn on acoustic bass.

Feb. 13 10:30am-12:30pm Learn How to Protect Your Water: New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has responsibility for a water system that supplies water to 9 million people daily. DEP will be offering a presentation on filtration avoidance. Included at this event will be a discussion on the steps consumers can take to help protect the quality of water. The agency also makes available to sports enthusiasts a number of recreational opportunities on New York City Water supply property, including fishing, small and big game hunting, hiking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Meuller is part of Mecca Bodega, an accomplished world music band that has performed at Lincoln Center, released 7 CD's, appeared on Garrison Keiller's A Prarie Home Companion and scored several movies.
