Jun. 13 12pm-2pm: Music at the Market! Don't miss this free live concert by Railbird from Saratoga Springs! Railbird is an all original indie rock group with lyrically driven songs.The band is fronted by singer/songwriter Sarah Pedinotti who is described by Billboard Magazine as "a talented young singer/songwriter on the rise.". Railbird's debut disc was listed as #8 in Billboard's editors' picks for 2008, hailed as "a great indie band set to break out."

Jun. 27 All Day: Electronic Recycling Day at the Market! Mr Rubbish will be at the market today to take all your unwanted electronic waste away for free! Whether it's an old, broken TV, stereo, toaster, camera, refrigerator-you name it-Mr. Rubbish will recycle it!

Jul. 3 6-11pm: Community Markets, Umami Festival, the (Makers) Market and Rooftop Films are joining forces this evening to present Amuse Bouche: An Evening of Art, Food Film and Markets! Purchase a picnic of artisanal food (and wares) at the (Makers) Market (6-9pm) on the ground floor of the Old American Can Factory and then head to the roof to catch a dozen shorts selected from the Umami Festival, a showcase of art that reflects on the power of food. Ten bucks gets you admission to the back-to-back screenings, plus unlimited Radeberger beer and postshow live music from indie folk-rockers Railbird. Old American Can Factory, 232 3rd St at Third Ave, Gowanus, Brooklyn (rooftopfilms.com). 8pm; $10.

Aug. 22 12pm – 2pm Tomato Tasting There are so many types of tomatoes at this time in the market. Have fun tasting all of them at the manager’s tent. Then buy your favorites.

Oct. 3 12pm-2pm Apple Tasting. Too many apples to choose from? Taste a few different slices at the manager’s tent. Don’t forget to pick up an information sheet on which apples to buy for pies, sauces, or just for eating.

By Subway
- Take the R or F trains to the 4 th Avenue and 9 th Street stop.
- The market is at JJ Byrne Park on Fifth Ave. and 4 th Street on the sidewalk alongside the park.

From Upstate or Long Island via the Brooklyn Queens Expressway
- Take exit 29B onto Tillary St.
- Turn left onto Flatbush Ave. Cross Fulton St. and continue on Flatbush Ave for a few blocks
- Turn Right on Fifth Ave. Go to JJ Byrne Park at Fourth St. The market will be on your right on the sidewalk alongside the park.
